We launched the Tyler Moniz Project to celebrate the extraordinary life of Tyler Moniz. We will carry out this mission by supporting educational and community programs that promote happiness, well-being, and hope.
Tyler was a big-hearted young man who grew up on Bainbridge Island. We lost Tyler to suicide in April 2016. Our community lost someone special that day and it broke our hearts. After Tyler died, literally dozens of people have shared sorrowful stories about family members and friends who are struggling with depression and mental illness or who tragically have taken their own lives. It feels like an epidemic.
Through the Tyler Moniz Project, we want to start a conversation. We know that suicidal thoughts grow in the darkest, most private, most shame-filled places. By casting light on this difficult subject and by offering an understanding hand, we want to help people find a way out. Everyone deserves to be happy.
The Tyler Moniz Project funds scholarships and supports organizations conducting mental health research and/or providing mental health services. One hundred percent of your generous contributions will go toward scholarships, research, and services. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Your kind contributions are tax deductible. EIN: 81-5305420. Thank you!
Join us Thursday, December 7th at the BHS Commons to learn how to talk about suicide with youth.
